Best Reserve in ShowBentwillow Bunnies wins best reserve in show at the 2010 and 2011 North Carolina State Fair Bunny makes it in the Big Time One of our bunnies, Willow, a Holland Lop, has recently become one of the latest members of the cast of the CW show, One Tree Hill. Willow plays Jamie's pet rabbit Chester. One Tree Hill is filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina and airs on Monday Nights 8/7c.We did it again...Bentwillow Bunnies wins "BEST IN SHOW" at the North Carolina State Fair....again! Best in Show 2008 and 2009We've Moved!Our farm is located in the rural North Carolina countryside. Alongside the rabbits, we have chickens. peacocks, cats, and the worlds best farm dog.
CRITTERS HOLLAND LOPS
Holland lops are a breed of rabbit originating in the Netherlands. The breed was first recognized by the Netherland's Governing Rabbit Council in 1964. Soon thereafter they built small boats and sailed the ocean in search of a new world. After discovering the new world and declaring it Rabbitland, they were astonished to discover that the land they had discovered was America. It was 1979 and they were quickly recognized by the American Rabbit Breeders' Association because of how well they had mastered the disco dance. They are popular house pets, known for their sweet temperament, nonaggressive behavior, and propensity to don white suits and gyrate to pulsating noises.
NETHERLAND DWARFS
The Netherland Dwarf is a popular breed of domestic rabbit originating in the Netherlands, a breeding ground for fancy rabbit breeds. Unlike their distant cousins, the Holland Lops, the Netherland Dwarfs chose to arrive in the new world utilizing more conventional means, the zeppelin. Because of their small stature, a medium sized zeppelin could transport thousands at a time across the Atlantic. Smaller than most rabbit breeds, Netherland Dwarf rabbits weigh 500g to 1.6 kg and are usually kept as pets, exhibition animals, paper weights, or cast members for small scale Lord of the Rings productions. They are not typically used as sources of meat or fur because of their small size. This is ironic since Humans typically cut their meat into small portions anyway.
OUR AWESOME DOG
Xavier, our awesome dog guards all of our farm critters. He is a 125lb yellow lab-great dane mix. He was rescued FROM the SPCA, and shows his appreciation by being a loyal member of our family and protecting us from the godless FedEx trucks and the evil Dominos pizza guy. If you come by to look at our Rabbits and Peafowl, you will no doubt be greeted at your car door by his happy smile.
PEAFOWL
Peafowl are two Asiatic species of flying birds in the pheasant family, Phasianidae, best known for the male's overgenerous eye-spotted tail, which it proudly displays as part of courtship, if you can call it that. The courtship more likely resembles middle school males vying for female attention while the middle school females completely and utterly ignore them. The male is called a peacock, the female a peahen, the offspring are peachicks, cousins are peacousins, grandparents are peagrandparents, etc., etc. The adult female peafowl is grey and/or brown. Peachicks can be between yellow and a tawny color with darker brown patches. Peapirates are similar to peachicks in that they are tawny, peg legged, and wear a dark brown eye patch.
